First things first, I should probably introduce myself. I'm Maggie, I'm 62, and I live in Melbourne. I am not an interiors expert, I am not particularly organised, and I certainly never thought I would sit down and write this much about a storage basket. But here we are.
For most of my adult life, storage in our house has consisted of whatever container happened to be available. Old biscuit tins. Plastic tubs. Takeaway containers. Random baskets from the back of cupboards. If it had a lid and could hold something, I kept it. It worked perfectly well. The only problem was that almost all of it was ugly.

This was the first thing that got me. They are not just plain storage baskets in beige, grey and white. There are beautiful floral prints, and each one feels completely different: some darker and a little more classic, some soft and feminine, some with brighter flowers and more colour. I spent far too long deciding which one I wanted first. And I say "first" because, as it turns out, choosing one does not stop you looking at the others. My first one went into the bedroom. Then I started thinking a softer print would look lovely in the bathroom. Then I saw another one and thought it would be perfect for the sewing bits. I had never thought about storage matching a room before. Now I actually find myself thinking about which print would look nicest in which room. That feels slightly ridiculous to admit. But it is true.

2ALL THE LITTLE BITS AND PIECES FINALLY HAVE SOMEWHERE TO GO
Every house has them. The little things that never really have a proper home. Reading glasses, hair clips, hand cream, chargers, pens, receipts, remote controls, bits of sewing. 3SMALL ENOUGH TO FIT ANYWHERE, BIG ENOUGH TO BE USEFUL
This was actually something I worried about before mine arrived. I did not want another enormous storage basket that took up half the room. These are not like that. They are compact enough to sit nicely on a dressing table, shelf, bedside table, desk or bathroom bench without completely taking over, but still roomy enough to hold all those little things that normally end up scattered everywhere. This is probably the feature I use most. Each basket has two soft handles, which means when I want to move everything, I do not have to take each item out one by one. 5THE QUILTING IS WHAT MAKES THEM FEEL SPECIAL
I think this is what surprised me most when mine arrived. The baskets are softly quilted, so they have a lovely padded texture rather than feeling flat or flimsy. They almost feel more like a little handmade textile piece than ordinary storage, and the floral fabric continues around the whole basket, including the handles. I have one sitting out in the bedroom now and I genuinely think it makes the corner look prettier. Which is not something I ever expected to say about a basket full of reading glasses and hand cream.
